Dimmer Switch VS. Energy Saving Bulb

Am I right in assuming that Energy Saving Bulbs do not work with Dimmer Switches?

We were going to go with a combination of CFLs and Dimmers in the new house, but failing that, which of the two should we opt for?

Go for the energy saving bulbs; not only a reduction in the amount of power used but they last for years.

re: energy saving bulbs. We have one which takes a minute or 2 to come to full brightness - not suitable for most areas. Can you get bulbs that are bright immediately??

Actually, it looks like dimmable CFLs are available - a useful round-up here:-

Which may also explain why some CFLs take longer to come on than others...
