Digital TV picture quality

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a difference in picture quality of digital TV for cable vs. satellite, a representative from a satellite supplier said that the quality would be superior to that of a cable supplier because I will have my own individual dish vs. cable where I could be sharing the same medium with the entire housing estate. Anyone know if this is true, or do cable providers somehow ring-fence a certain amount of bandwidth to ensure a minimum picture quality irrespective of how many people are connected ?

I have both Sky and NTL and there is a much better picture and sound from Sky. Just my experience...

Satellite pictures are better because there is lots more bandwidth available.
