Digital SLR Camera

Hi,
My sister wants to buy a digital SLR camera. She doesn't know much about them so she asked for my help. Can anyone recommend a decent entry-level digital SLR? Also, she has an old analogue SLR. Can the lenses for the old camera be used on a digital one?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

You say she "doesn't know much about them"; is she sure she really needs interchangeable lenses? A genuine digital SLR starts at €700 or €800+, whereas she could buy something like the Finepix S5500 for around the €400 mark (or cheaper, from the States...) Looks/handles like an SLR and gives you the equivalent of an average SLR kit, lens-wise:
the S5500 Zoom maintains the SLR-inspired design and incredible 10x optical zoom Fujinon lens of its predecessor, the equivalent of 37-370 mm on a 35 mm camera.
As to whether or not she'll be able to use her old lenses, that depends on the precise model of camera/lenses she has (AF or not, etc.)

there is quite a small selection of entry level SLR's. Canon, Nikon are the market leaders. Check out www.dpreview.com for latest reviews. Nikon released the D50 recently but the D70 is probably still the leader there.
