digital satellite receiver and standard tv/vcr analogue

was thinking of getting a digital satellite receiver and i need to know will
it work with a standard tv and vcr or do i need to get something else to make it work. my friend told me that i need to get a digital compatible tv/ vcr other wise it will not work ,is he mistaken

By "digital compatible tv/vcr he probably meant a tv/vcr with scart sockets on it. So if your tv & vcr were purchased within the last 4-5 years you should have no problems.

no i was told that the tv/vcr needed to get a digital signal from the sat receiver for them to work .this information i got from my friend has been proved incorrect. (totally way off track) wont be relying on him for advice anymore
