Digital Camcorder

I'm looking for some advice..... I'm looking for a digital camcorder but need to know what critical features do I need to know about before buying.For example I know that on digital cameras CCD resolution is not a feature you should buy on as it uses software to interpolate pictures to improve image quality,you're better off with higher resolution etc.All the web sites I looked at tell me the camcorder I'm reading about is the best to buy but I'd like to get the experience of Irish users,pros and cons.What features I need to have
