Digital 8 to NTSC

Just bought my first camcorder and I have a question which I hope someone will be able to answer.

I want to be able to create VHS tapes to send to the US. I have a VCR that plays both PAL and NTSC, can someone tell me if I get tapes from the US (ie. NTSC ones, which I assume are slightly different) can I use these to sucessfully record/create a tape from the footage on the Digital 8 tape in the camera that will play in the US?

Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware the fact that your VCR 'plays' NTSC is no good. It will only record a signal in PAL. You would require a USA VCR or a "PAL to NTSC" converter.

Far easier to connect your camcorder using composite video and audio i.e yellow, white and red leads into a dvd recorder and record onto dvd. AFAIK dvd's seem to play regardless of PAL or NTSC - but maybe thats just here and not in the USA.. if so you'd have to buy the converter or connect to a computer with software that offered the conversion.
