Different laptop processors comparison

I am looking for a new laptop and people are telling me to get the latest Intec processor (i3, i5 etc). What is the difference between those processors and the older ones (Celeron etc)? I mean what kind of processing would I need to be doing to notice any difference? All I want to do is surf and manage photos etc
 
I would avoid Celeron. If I was buying a laptop today for web/photo/video I'd probably go for this .
 
Celeron is terrible slow and frustrating would avoid at al costs. I would only go as low as Dual core or I3 if you can, preferable to really have an I5 min, any kind of photo editing for large photo files are processor intensive and you dont want to be sitting there tapping your fingers, nothing worse..
 
I bought a Netbook from laptops direct and no issues in past either. Very keen prices for sure.
 
Is this Acer deal better than the PC World HP deal on the other thread? I would prefer to shop at home.
