Hi

I ordered a book from amazon.co.uk that came to a total of 13 euros when converted from sterling.
The following day I had an email to say that it was not in stock and I would be refunded my money.

On my credit card statement the 13 euro is charged and the next day only 12.48 euro was refunded. There was a different exchange rate displayed on my statement for each day.

Does this seem fair? Is it legal to do this?

Thanks

would seem fair - i assume they refunded you the sterling amount in full and your credit card company are applying the relevant fx rates for each day.
i've always found amazon's customer service very helpful so if you're not happy try getting in touch

I had the same problem with a TransAtlantic transaction - I lost over €12 - I contacted the supplier asking for a refund, but I didn't receive a reply - however, in fairness to them, they did refund the exact amount in dollars - the currency rates are out of their control. So, I contacted my credit card company today and they said that they (the credit card company) would refund any difference because of currency fluctuation. Seemed to be quite a standard thing and the pleasant customer care rep was only too pleased to help. So give your cc company a call (the number is usually on the back of the card) and see if they will refund you.

Thanks for the replies.....its only a small amount but its the principle:)
