Diesel car recommendation

Hi,
I'd would like to get peoples opinion on the most econmical Diesel from the following ranges


Mondeo
Avensis (Is there a 1.6 Diesel version?)
Passat (What is the 1.9TDi 100bph like?)

Sorry I missed one.

I think the Mondeo 2 litre TDCI Zetec is an excellent car also. Good value 2nd hand too. Late 2004 models got a 6 speed 'box.

In general all cars of this size will be 2 litre engine capacity.

The newer 1.6 110bhp Ford/PSA unit is rare on the forecourts as yet, but is being fitted to Ford Foci, Citroen's up to and including the C5, Peugeot's up to the 407, and Volvo S/V50.

I have a 6 speed 130bhp passat.

loads of power and 600 miles to a tank.

Can't go wrong.

Passats can have a mean spec so get the best one you can.

i really like the passat, but id say my wallet will point to a Mondeo
 
Mondeo is a very good car.

Bigger than a Passat, and the best handling car in it's class.

There are plenty around so buy the best one.
 
I bought a new mondeo earlier this month and I love it, dam neer had a santa fe but drove the mondeo and loved it.
I took all of the following cars for at least over night and in 1 or 2 for more than that.
1) premera- horriable tinney, light car.
2) mazda 6, v nice didn't like the bucket seats or the fact it was hatchback and rattled a bit on bad roads.
3) H S Fe- very very nice dam near bought it.
4) l rover freelander- didn't like at all not a bit like a car (i know) no where as nice to drive as santa fe.
5) passat - nice bit to tight around me, needs the higher bh/p otherwise sluggish.
6)mazda premisy- terriable drove for 5 min and gave it back.
7) toyoto avensis- very like passat, disapointing.
 
If you carry a lot of stuff in the boot, stretch to the passat.
The Mondeo is NOT a bigger car having drove both as company cars.
The 130 bhp is the one to go for.
It will also hold its value better over time than the Mondeo.
4 sets of golf clubs in the passat no problem.

Size wise we'll have to agree to differ. I've driven both at length too.

115bhp TDCI is adequate for all but the most demanding drivers.

Either is a dud buy new.

2nd hand the Mondeo works at least as well as it depreciates quicker under the original owner, and is a nice bit cheaper used.

Hatchback Mondeo will take 4 sets of clubs also.
