I know done before but just looking for opinions on my specific purchase.I am not saying where purchased to open up past debates.
Basically - 1.11 Ct, Color G , VVS1 , Princess Cut for €5000. €6000 all in inc ring which has .16 ct diamonds on white gold band
Decent Value or not?
herself loved it main thing but would be nice to get some opinion on value for money from any diamond experts out there?

Seems good value. I recently bought (outside EU and no tax or vat) 1.15 Ct SI 1 set in a white gold pendant. VVS1 is more valuable so seems a v. good deal. Raw S.I. 1 Diamonds are approx €5k for one carat at Schipol Airport loose diamond centre.

Sorry just noticed yours is a princess cut. The one I bought was a traditional brilliant cut so maybe that makes a difference. Maybe someone who has info can comment

Princess cut are generally cheaper.
If your buy is purely for the pleasure of your misses eyes, I would recommend that you lower the spec of the clarity (say VS instead of VVS ) but get a higher spec for the color say at least F, preferably E.
Go to a reputable diamond dealers (say Appleby if you are in Dublin) and ask them you show you various colors.. you'll understand why.

1ct E VVS was about €15k in Ireland, and €40k for 2ct - Diamond cut - 2005 (but prices have been dropping as De Berrs lost the control of the diamond world market).

Agree with previous post reduce the clarity and get a beter colour - E or F colouring will look better. Clarity is not very NB for the nakek eye whereas colour and the sparkle certainly are. Once you see a dodgey yellow colour coming off he diamond once you will never be able to look at it again without seeing this - not very nice to see coming off something yo just spent 5K. I would suspect this off an F colour.

Sounds decent value all the same id be shocked if you say this was offered to you in Ireland where prices for these type things are a farce. Also make sure its certerfied (international cert) not a shop one - shop ones aren't worth the paper they come as they will be naturally biased and try to convince you its the best ring ever.

I got a 1.07 E colour, VS1, precess cut on white gold mounting for 5K in Anthwerp. if you can go to Anthwerp do you won't be disapointed.
Several posts here on Anthwerp.

Thanks for replies,

As long as herself is happy as they say but nice to know didnt get ripped off either

hi highfier,
if you have it insurer and you didnt pay correct import taxes, the insurance companies will not pay up if you loose it as it is an illegal import.regards
