Diabetes & Motor insurance

My husband was recently diagnosed as having Type 2 diabetes. He has been told by his Opthalmologist that he can still drive (although his vision has been affected somewhat by the condition). Should he inform his motor insurer? Will his premium necessarily increase? Will his cover be affected if he doesn't tell them about his condition and later has a claim?

My brother is diabetic, and I'm afraid yes, you must tell your insurer and it will almost certainly cost you. Most policies will explicity mention diabetes in the T&Cs, failure to notify your insurer invalidates the policy.
