Deposits

Can anyone give me a bit of info about deposits please. If you break the term of your lease do you loose your deposit?? There was 6 of us and 3 had to move out cause they lost their jobs and went home and we can't get another 3 to replace them, so we have to move out now. Our lease was for 1 year, will we loose our deposit??

In short yes, and you could be liable for the rent due for the rest of the lease! Who signed the lease? All of you? This isn't just a case of walking away, are you sure you can't get three more? Does your lease say you are responsible for replacing tenants?

UNFORTUNATELY I would say yes. though it is not necessarily your fault, it isn't the fault of the land lord/lady either!" It's a cruel cruel world!
