Hi,

Went into local branch of E.B.S. 2 days ago to open account with variable rate and asked girl for written letter of confirmation of present rate on the account so off she goes and comes back with letter with no date on it. So told her you forgot to date it. So off she goes and comes back with new dated letter with the present rate of interest specified on it. So asked her to show me how to access rates on their website as it a variable rate and guesss what the rate in the letter of confirmation was incorrect!!! So she whips up the two letters she printed, took them away does a new letter and says sure will give you an application form in case you want to open a new account anyway. I don't think so!!!!!

Not the first time that EBS have advised customers of wrong rates.

Also, just this month, EBS updated some of the fixed rates on their website and backdated the effective date of the changes by several weeks! That should never happen with fixed rates.

EBS seem to have poor controls over ensuring that all systems are on the same page at the same time with deposit rates.

If I let bank staff attitudes get in the way of taking the best rates around, I'd have foregone a lot of money. However, retrospective updates to agreed rates seems a bit beyond the pale.
