I am looking for some advice on deposit options currently. I have about 100K to deposit for a term of no longer than 3 years. I have been looking at the banks who all offer similar rates. The deciding factor for me is security, ( as I am sure it is for most these days !) Anyone have any advice on the most secure options that maybe can offer a marginally better rate than the main banks.

Hi cavanMan, can you explain why do you say Investec is secure ? If you apply to open an account of Investec Online, you will find out that their holding account is in BOI. You need to deposit your money to Investec's account in BOI. I'm not sure what happen if BOI go burst. Or what security level of Investec does that indicate. Any ideas ?
Read my post here and look at the Best Buys mentioned therein. I stilll think Nationwide UK (Irl) and Rabo (despite the lower interest rate) are the best options because of the security aspect. €50,000 in each would be my target if it were my money but you might prefer elsewhere yourself.

It seems you want a term deposit? Investec Online will pay you 3.6% and the deposit will be fully guaranteed by the UK government from January 1st 2011.
