Dentistry Abroad

I saw a few threads about going abroad for dental treatment in AAM. Thought that I would share my recent experience with you.

I was recently quoted €2000 by my dentist in Dublin to have a root canal redone and a crown put on the tooth. Expensive because it required 'endo dentistry'.

I was in France on holiday last month and thought that I would get a quote there. I popped into the local tourist office and asked the whereabouts of the nearest dentist, and they directed me to one a few doors away.

The surgery was 'state of the art' and the dentist spoke perfect English. He quoted me €650 for the entire job. I made an appointment for the folowing morning, where he redid the old root canal and took a cast for the crown (total 40 minutes). I made an appointment for the following week, and got the crown fitted. That only took 15 minutes. I then took the opportunity to get two fillings at €20 a pop. Completely painless procedures.

I would strongly recommend to anyone who needs work done to go into a local dentist, if they happen to be abroad, and get a quote. It doesn't interfere with the holiday, and in my case the saving nearly paid for the holiday itself.

Goodness! I paid €170 to have to fillings done here outside Rome - and it was a special price without vat.

Remember that you may well invalidate your travel insurance if you have non-emergency medical treatment while abroad. At a minimum, you won't be covered under your travel insurance for any issues arising from the medical treatment.

Hi there

a friend of my dad is just home from Turkey and he got a lot of work done over there and it cost him about €1,500 which would have cost him €7,000 or even more here. the card is at home if anyone wanted the number just give me a PM

As someone who has had a lot of dentistry in the last few years , for some reason the teeth gave up the ghost, the costs here are astronomical, made all the moreso when compared to other countries. I took myself (and the offending teeth) up north and managed to save a nice sum of money, even taking into acccount the sterling/euro exchange.
I would have no hesitation having my teeth seen to abroad, insurance cover or not.

Will you pm me the details of your dentist as I need some work done myself and would like to get a quote

Jaid

me and the mot will be traveling to Marmaris in Turkey to get the gnashers done, its far cheaper and i know loads of people who are well happy with the service, also well cheap, lots of info on the net, type in dentist turkey.

Jaid,

MaryRose has not logged on to AAM since 2006 so your chances of getting a PM seem slim.

Mmmm that could be a problem... anybody got further information on detistry abroad?
