Dentist - €105 for a filling!

Guys, I have PRSI and usually just get my teeth cleaned and polished which I'm not charged for. Today however I got a filing and they charged me €105!! Seems like a lot but is this the norm??

'Fraid so. My son was quoted €800 for 8 fillings in city centre dublin.

Think you can only claim bach something like €35 per filling.

Was it a composite (white) filling? These are more expensive than amalgam (black) fillings, even with your PRSI deduction.

105euro for a composite filling within Dublin (if this is where you are located) would seem in line with general price lines. Variations in price may account for size and number of tooth surfaces.

You cannot claim fillings on a MED2 form.
 
OK - thanks. I did say "may" because I wasn't sure what dental work did qualify.

You can for composite/bonded white fillings if your dentists signs off the Med 2 form for you

If that is the case it, why are white fillings not mentioned on the Med2 form then ? It seems that everything that qualifies is explicitly mentioned.

I woiuld be very surpised if they did - definately outside contractual and eligibility terms.
