Demanding Redundance instead of 3 Day week

Hi there. I have been put on a 3 day week now for 2 months now and there is no sign of it changing back. I just want to leave now as I can't afford childcare in this situation. With redundancy and jobseekers and taking the kids out of the crèche I would survive for 9 months. I am well skilled and feel confident that I could get a new job in that time frame.

I have 2 questions
If I demand redundancy can my employer force me to work my notice period of 1 month.
If I demand redundancy will that effect my job seekers claim as I would be refusing a 3 day week.

Hiya,

You can claim JSB on a 3 day week. If you did not know this go to you local social welfare office and put your claim in now and ask it to be backdated to the date that your working week was reduced. You will be given forms for your employer to complete and "dockets" that you have to return to your local office every week stating days you worked. Hope this is of some help to you.
