Dell monitor self-test

Anyone know what to do if a Dell flat panel monitor fails a self-test (STFC)? The Dell trouble shooting guide assumes it passes!!!

Problem is that my flat panel monitor died this morning, but the LED is still on, though flashing a little quicker than usual.
-Swapped with another monitor to rule out PC problem.
-Tried dead monitor on other PC, same symptoms.

Surely the Askaboutmoney intellegensia would be able to give me some clues as to how to go about this?

Come on, people, I know you are better than Dell Tech support.

Below is something that I used to have to do on my Dell monitor. It does not work on all Dell models however.

# Disconnect the monitor power cord from the monitor
# Disconnect the VGA and/or DVI monitor cables from the back of the PC
# While disconnected, press and hold in the monitor power button for 5 seconds
# Reconnect the the monitor power cord to the monitor
# Reconnect the VGA and/or DVI monitor cables to the back of the PC
# Power the monitor on.

Thanks for the reply, guys - I have tried removing the monitor and pressing the start button for 5 seconds, but still the same. Also, a look through the various Google links shows some similarities to the monitor going into power save mode, but it is not definitive.

Anybody recommend a good monitor repair shop in Dublin (South)?
I had a laptop fixed in laser computers in Dundrum and found them both reliable and courteous. Not sure if they do monitors though.
