I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 for just over 3 years. No major problems until 2 weeks ago when white diagonal lines would appear and the screen would start to jump. Turned it off and there would be no problems.
Updated all the drivers from the DELL site and hoped that would be the end of the problem. Then last night it completely went down and the screen will not turn on or will turn on with just a back light. I also put my password on and that seems to take ages to work as well (I can hear the logon music after a while.).
Some people have said that it is the video card and that it is integrated with the motherboard and therefore the computer is kapput.
I had my laptop on a piece of furniture a few weeks ago with a towel underneath it. Could it have overheated and hence what is happening now.
