Dell Inspiron, Vostro, Latitude - whats the difference?

I'm looking at getting a Dell and just wondering what the difference between these laptops is. I know the Inspiron is marketed for consumer needs & the Vostro & Latitude are aimed at the business market.

But my question is apart from the different design of the laptop itself is there any difference in performance?
If you have an Inspiron & a Vostro with the same processor, memory etc will they not have the same performance and will they not be able to operate the same applications?

Is it just a marketing tool in order to charge more for different models?

Yep a friend of mine who worked in Dell told me years ago that the inspiron and lattitude are the same machine just in different cases.

Check the hardware spec and that will tell you what the difference is.

Sometimes there are differences you'd have to look at the spec. Also the chassic is sometimes (not always) difference and some are stronger than others.
