Delays in processing JB claims?

My friend is being made redundant at the end of this week so will go next week to claim Jobseekers Benefit unless something comes up in the next few days for her.

I saw a reference to 6 week delays in processing new claims on another thread - does anyone know if there are delays currently, and how long they are?

Yes, there are delays and the length of these vary from office to office. If you qualify for Supplementary Welfare Allowance, then avail of that from your local Community Welfare Office. It is means tested. If you have other hosuehold incoem, it is unlikely you will get it.

Bishop street dole office in Dublin processed my friends dole application, she was told in early feb that the payments will take 10 to 12 weeks, so shes hoping to get her money in April.
