When a elderly relative doesn't know where a property's deeds are or even if they were ever in their possession ,,,,,Where do you start looking,,and if that comes to nothing how do you replace them and how much does it cost...
Was there ever a mortgage on the property? Try the bank. they weren't always automatically returned so might be with the bank.
Next try their solicitor - some solicitors store documents for clients.
Failing that, you need to find out if it's a land registry or registry of deeds. Land registry is easier to reconstitute.
Check the land direct website - zoom in using map to see if it's registered.
