Decorate Curtain Pole so not bare without Curtains

In our living room we have to decided not to put up curtains as they would cut off the bay window part of the room. However we do not want to remove the curtain pole. Rather than leaving it looking bare my partener has suggested wrapping curtain like material around it in a fashionable way. Any suggestions as I havent a clue with this sort of thing??

Entwine voile in lovely colours around the curtain pole, not scrunched up but spread out so that you can still see a little bit of the pole. Experiment until you are happy with the result. Use two different colours for maximum effect, orange and red go great!

You could also use silk but its heavier and doesnt work as well as voile.

I agree, somethimes this type of window treatment can look a bit naff, but that is the kind of look dublinflyer1 wanted. Personally, I would either hang curtains or take the pole down altogether.
