Debit/Laser Card with PSTB: Why are they being such a pain about it? Is my money!

I went down to PSTB in Ballyfermot one morning and enquired about a debit/laser card.

I was told I need pay slips with me and had to be making over €20k a year.

So I went back down the following week and handed over everything. This is where the story changes. The girl then told me I had to be making over €30k a year and they couldn’t give me a debit/laser card as it was a credit facility.

I don’t get how I’m not allowed to debit my OWN money!

I was wondering what the deal with Debit/Laser cards is.

Why are PSTB be such a pain about it.

Re: Debit/Laser Card with PSTB

I've had the same problem with PTSB. They told me the application process was exactly the same as applying for a visa or master card.

I started to put some buttons over this but got nowhere.

It's a crazy system.

Re: Debit/Laser Card with PSTB

It's very old fashioned, but BOI and AIB used to do this also - I remember when I applied for my first Laser card with AIB there was whole hoo-ha to go with it.

Now AIB seem to distribute them as standard, with no checks. I'm not sure about BOI - but I think they are the same. PTSB are still a bit behind the times. Maybe it'll chance when they switch to Visa Debit.
