Debit Card registration

Hi. I am attempting to register my Visa Debit card in order to bid at a forthcoming online property auction.
However, after following the instructions on the auctioneer's website and entering the correct details I am receiving the responses "card not chargeable" and " card has insufficient funds". My account contains more than enough to pay a deposit should I be the winning bidder so what possible explanations might there be for this? I would like to know before I contact the auction house directly. Thanks.

Is there a limit on the card, notwithstanding the account balance?

Does the account linked to the card have sufficient funds at the moment,or will you move funds once it's needed to pay a deposit?
I'm just wondering did the site try a large pre-approval?

How much is the deposit? I was looking at a property in BidX1, and the deposit to register as a bidder was 10k.

There's a limit on debit card transactions. Latest information I have is contained in the following thread:

I am not sure if there is a limit. I need to check that with my bank. The deposit payable is €4,500.

I though with bidX it was 10% of the bid required ?
Just reading there website it says you need too arrange payment of 10% within 2 working days.
A proportion of this 10% has all ready being provided by the bidding deposit you commited during registration.
So it might be a card limit

The payment limit is €2500 per day. So, I presume electronic transfer is the only alternative option. I don't have a credit card.
DNG auctions is the auctioneer involved.
