My wife and I were driving behind a hearse today (empty!) and got to talking and the discussion centred around whether more people die in winter than in summer. Now intuitively you would think winter but I would think there is probably no discernible difference between the 2.

Anyone know the actual stats ?

The cso record deaths on a quaterly basis.

Since 1997 the average deaths per quatrer are as follows:

8552 Q1
7547 Q2
6795 Q3
7030 Q4

Im not a statistitian but it looks like more people die in Q1 Jan Feb March
Than in Q3 July August September.

Was discussing the same thing two weeks ago when attending the funeral of a 97 year old and remembered years back that if an elderly sickly person survived March it was a good sign and they could last the rest of the year.

Mind you...60 was old then.
