Hi I'm new to this thread but just wondering is anyone aware when DCC is sending out their next newsletter? I heard Feb/March but no exact date seems to be set. Also, is there any way of finding out what properties are going to be available or do we have to wait for the newsletter?

Re: Dcc Ah: when DCC is sending out their next newsletter?

I rang the other day and they said the end of this month. Not sure what properties, have heard some talk of a lot more in docklands though.

Thanks. I also heard rumours of the Docklands and also The Strand apartments on North Strand. We'll just have to wait and see I suppose. Hope they get their skates on and send us the newsletter soon!

Hi all,

I heard its the docklands myself. just a quick question, does it go by how long your on the list with Dublincity? how long are you all on it. I am on it 8 months now, never got a newsletter, i missed out last time because my application was in to late.

DCC is a lottery - they will send you out a brochure listing all of the available developments and a fact sheet with how many say 1 beds/2 beds, with/without parking etc and the price relating to each. You then tick which properties you would like to go into the draw for and send your preferenecs back to DCC. They then hold a lottery to allocate the properties on that basis - so you only go into a draw with the other people who have also shown a preference for each property. Be warned though - it took months and months last time!!

Can I ask did any of you apply using the Short Version of the application?

It's entitled "Short Version, Panel Application Form for an Affordable Home in Dublin City, for applicants to Dublin City only"

I want to get my name on the list ASAP as by the sounds of it the next newsletter will be out fairly soon.

I don't want to send this form in and be told "it's not sufficient, send in the full version with all the necessary documents"

Cheers for any advice in advance!

That is the correct form. Its the one I used and I am sorting out my offer at the moment. DCC have a short form like this as you dont have to prove your eligibility for affordable housing till after you get selected in a draw. Get on the list quick, you could be waiting 8 or 9 months on the next news letter!

Thanks for that Starky.

I just got confirmation that the application is OK and they've said that I've just got it in on time for this draw. Sweet!

I'm pretty good in lotteries, let's hope the luck continues!

You should try the Irish lotto then if your feeling lucky, if you win you can use the money to buy a house in Dublin, and you never know you MIGHT even have enough left over for a weekend away… ;-)

Does an application to Dublin City Council include Dockland's apartments?

I've heard that the Dublin Dockland's Authority (DDA) is a different branch, but I cannot find an application form for it.

Does anyone have any idea of where the apartments might be if not in the Docklands?

I think originally the DDA use to run their own AH scheme.

As of summer 2007 (i.e. the last news letter) the DDA gave over administration and general running of their scheme to DCC.

DCC sent out one form that covered both the general DCC AH scheme and the DDA AH scheme. In other words when I filled in my form there was two sections in it, one for DCC and one for the AH in the docklands. I filled in both sections and got lucky in the docklands. :) So if there are more units available in the docklands in the next news letter then they will available for selection in the next DCC Affordable housing news letter. Hope that helps!

Hi Starky,

Thanks for the info. Btw I didn't win tonight's lotto!

My application form made no mention of any specific areas. Hopefully I'll still be included in both.

Cheers,

Col

Well the odds of the dcc ah lottery are a little better. :)

Once your on the dcc panel you will get details off all the places in the next 'lotto' that will include any in the docklands. It will all make sense when you get the selection form. Good luck!
