I always pay my cc online either on or a day before the payment due date and never encounter any interest charge.

Last month the payment due date was 30th october - I scheduled it for 29th october and it came out of my account on that date. Today I got my bill and it shows the payment being made on the 1st november and an interest charge.

Is this correct? When do I need to schedule my electronic payment for in order to avoid interest charges?

The 29th was a Friday, so the next working day was Monday 1st.

You would probably be better off to allow for weekends & bank holidays, & scheduling your payments to be made a few days in advance of due date.

I called my CC provider and was told to allow the following time frames:

Paying in Bank A, money going to Bank B - 3-5 working days
Paying in Bank A, money going to Bank A - 3 working days
Paying online - before 5pm on weekday - money goes overnight
Paying online - after 5pm Monday-Thursday - money goes overnight a day later
Paying online - after 5pm on Friday - money goes overnight Monday

Useful to know when the AIB charges come in shortly :)
