Cybersquatting Query

Hi all,
I hope your learned minds can help.

My question revolves around a certain political party activist who works closely with a sitting TD, handles online presence etc.

This activist has registered the .com addresses for two other TDs (different parties) within the same constituency and has them redirected to the activist's blog (pro original party).

Apparently this has been the case for over a decade.

Is this cybersquatting? Certainly the .com registrations appear to be in bad faith, so whether they're being held so the other TDs just can't have them, or whether the intention is to sell or if indeed to try and gain google juice for their own blog I'm not sure.

This was mentioned in the Sunday Times today so some of you may be familiar with this case.

Thoughts welcome.

There have been a number of high profile cases in the USA whereby people registering famous people's names as .com addresses have been sued by the famous people (unless obviously if the person coincidently has the same name as someone famous). In all cases, the famous person has been awarded the .com address.

Article here in relation to it. I forgot about Bertie's name website being cybersquatted on by a porn site.
