I work in NI but live in RoI, and got married 2 years ago. My OH works in RoI.
I have recently started to wonder if there is anything that I/We should be alerting the authorities to in case I/We could be saving money (of course I appreciate this might backfire and it could cost me money)?
I have been employed at the same company for quite a while, and am not sure if they or the Tax Office in NI have me down as a married man. Perhaps they get this info from other sources, but I never told them. Would my work inform them? Then again do my work know I'm married? I never told my finance or HR Dept.
These questions obviously would apply to my wife as well.
I have always thought that being a cross border worker must bring its complications. Personally I have never faced any, but then again maybe its because I never told anyone info they needed to know?
Should I be looking at anything in particular? Anyone else in the same situation that could advise?
