There have been huge increases in property prices over the last few years, so property isn't as cheap as it used to be.
Most people I spoke to before we bought (estate agents and property developers) just laughed at our budget and said we'd never buy anywhere at that price, but we did. I suspect most of them were just trying to talk up the market, or impress with how much money they had made.
Buying in Croatia is not easy, so the agent you buy from will have a huge impact. I'm not naming names, but we had a bad experience with two Irish agencies based over there - my advice is to avoid agencies charging a viewing fee, especially if they won't negotiate on the fee.
