Criteria for selecting builder

Hi Guys

I had a chat with these guys and they seem good but what Criteria should i use to make sure they are not Cowboys, ok i will speak to people they have worked with but what else should i look out for.

ask them for contact details for other people that they have done work for. Go and see the other houses if you can (so you can make sure it's not just some guy who works for them). Do a Google search for the company as well and see if they crop up.
 
Find out how many jobs they'll have going at once and how many people will be dedicated to your job - many builders spread themselves too thin and fail to meet commitments
 
Check the NSAI website (WWW.nsai.ie) to see if they are a certified timber frame manufacturer. Also check www.itfma.ie i think. Irish timber frame manufacturers assoication to see if they are any good. also all of the above
