Crete - lively area but must have a good beach

Hi I am thinking of going to Crete for a week in May and am thinking of the Mika apts in piskapiano does anyone know these? is the beach near? also what about gouves ? does it have nice beach is it lively if not how close is it to hersonissos which I know is lively any other advice welcome

Piskopiano is about 3/4 of a mile up a STEEP hill from Hersonnissos and the beach. It is a very lovely little village and is probably lively-ish during May, but not in the same league as Hersonnissos. Nightlife in Piskopiano consists of bars and restaurants only really, so if it's nightclubs you're after it's probably not a great choice. Hersonnissos is very lively, with lots of clubs.

Don't know what Mika Villas are like, sorry.

What about Stalis? Midway between Hersonnisos and Malia. Nice beach, not too crazy but near enough to the action.
