Credit Unions soon to be allowed issue longer term loans?

as a credit union member already slightly concerned about the high incidences of bad debts at some credit unions, is this such a good idea for CU members not availing of this service?

Credit Unions soon to be allowed issue longer term loans?

NO is the simple answer. All credit unions can at present issue "longer term loans" but are limited by statute as to the percentage of their loan book that can be issued as "longer term loans".
When the Minister makes the "necessary Regulatory amendments in the coming months" some credit unions will be able to issue a greater percentage of their loan book as "longer term loans".

Many reports about this proposed legislation also mentioned that it would go hand in hand with a push to ensure that CUs operate suitable prudential supervision.
