Credit unions: A safe place for your money?

Most of us are asking if there is anywhere that is safe to keep money but I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has an opinon about how safe is our money in the credit union. At least with the main banks we have the Government guarantee.
We have money in our credit union and no loan outstanding...should we leave it there or take it out?
 
I believe you have the same govt guarantee with the credit unions.
In fact they seem to think they are now [broken link removed]
 
It all depends... If NR had done bust it would have decimated the Credit Union movement. Where did you think most of them held their cash, in the best interest paying bank of course!

 
Thanks for the replies, guys, I didn't realise that the GG Scheme applied to CU's...so it looks like onr thing less to worry about!
