Credit rating

My partner and I are thinking of Building. Both of us could get a site from our parents but we would prefer his location.
I fear that he may not have a very good credit rating but I would have a perfect credit rating.
Is there a way of getting around this? I would have no problem in taking on the mortgage in my name alone but if the site was in our joint names would this be an issue?

for €6 each you can apply for your rating it will show you what the bank/building society will request [broken link removed] I don't know about the other option of your name etc i'm sure someone on aam will, but maybe get some proper financial advice.

It's wise to to this every few years as they sometimes have incorrect information. If you find something is incorrect you can have them change it.
Out of curiousity, Why do you think you have a perfect credit rating and he has a bad rating.. Often people with a poor credit history will get loans before somebody without any credit history. If you have a site already then this will be considered so I would say you'll have no problem.

I know that he has a bad rating, and I didn't even think to apply for a loan/mortgage with his history but maybe we would be successfull, Thanks for info.

The ICB keeps records for 5 years after the completion of a loan agreement if that's any use to you.
