Does having a credit card in Ireland increase one's credit rating? And what if I don't really intend to use it, will it still increase my credit rating if the balance is always at 0?

Also, does the EU have a unified credit rating? That is, if I move to another country in the EU, will my Irish credit rating be recognized?

Thanks.

An unused card will show up on your credit record, but won't really contribute anything to it.

There is no EU wide credit rating, so no it's unlikely your Irish credit rating will be of any use in another EU country.

Thanks. And what if i use it and pay it off every month? does that contribute to my credit rating? and does it matter how much I charge to it? Is there any information out there about how the Irish credit rating is measured?
