Credit card usage abroad

Hi,
Im going on my travels next month to south america and central america and im just wondering what is the best way to take out money. As in i have banking online with Aib and a credit card with Aib also so should i:
1) Lodge money from my current account into my credit card account and use my credit card
2) Just use my debit card
3) Just withdraw from the atm's out there.

As in which is the easiest and cheapest method of payment?

I'd love to know the answer to this as well. Furthermore, is it wise to reduce the credit card limit to reduce exposure to fraud?
