Credit Card payment declined????

I booked holiday accommodation yesterday on asiarooms.com and paid with my Credit card, the status said "awaiting card verification", then last night my other half used the card, there was about €490 credit left on it and he spent £370stg. This morning I get an email from asiarooms saying my payment was declined, I am fit to kill him as I told him how much credit was left on the card but I thought since I booked on asiarooms.com first that the sterling transaction wouldn't affect it???
 
I guess the sterling transaction just got posted quicker than the € transaction and eat up the credit so that when the latter transaction was posted you didn't have enough credit. Transactions are not always posted to the credit card account in the order that they are originally executed. If you are thinking of killing your partner then you should at least consider the probability of having to serve a long jail sentence.

No I'll rebook the holiday accommodation, and since I haven't got enough credit to book him he'll just have to stay at home!
He's transferring me the money but it'll be another day before that shows up on my card account

But seriously - what's the question/query? Was it related to the relative ordering of transaction executions and posting to the account?

yes it was and you've answered it, thanks. I just thought the asiarooms transaction would have gone thru so I told him there was about €480 left on the card so he stupidly went off and spent £375 but has since transferred the money to me
 
asiarooms might not have an online credit card facility, ie, maybe someone prints out your details the next day and does it manually?
