Credit card limit

Evening all
My credit limit on my credit card is €3500 per month.
I'm looking at making a holding payment of at least €6500 euro with my card.
Can I do this ? Or would my monthly limit need too be increased too €6500 ?would the bank consider this as a once off or would it be much better too use my debit card for this ?

You could preload your credit card with another €3,000 (or slightly more just to be sure).

You could contact the bank and ask them to increase the limit.

You may even be able to do this online, depending on your bank.

I usually give them a call and confirm that I will be making a purchase which is in excess of my limit and prelodging sufficient funds to cover it. This is what AIB told me is the best course of action although this was a few years ago but has always worked for me.

Just be aware that in the event of fraud on your credit card, the credit balance on your card may not be covered - I was told this by my credit card provider as I generally kept a small (e150) credit balance in case I spent and forgot to pay the min payment required.
