Are credit card introductory rates any good to someone who already has a credit card with that bank? ie. I have a standard Visa with AIB but want to change to another card. Can I still avail of the 3.9% introductory offer for 12 months? Asked the bank and they said no but i have my doubts. Surely there are ways around this? Thanks.
I want to stay with AIB so that I can have the ease off tracking my finances online, etc. Are you saying that I could change to an AIB mastercard (as opposed to Visa) and avail of the introductory rates?
If this is true what is stopping one from rotating between visa and mastercard each year?
Technically, since I am standard AIB visa card holder, would I not be a new custumer of the AIB 'be' Visa card if i applied?
As an aside; The advertising by banks in this country (as I am sure it is in others) is shocking to be fair. It is virtually a riddle every time you see something in a window or a bus shelter. ie. great rates that are available for all of 3 months before returning to some nominal base rate.
That is the best solution when it comes to credit cards unless you can "rate tart" as you suggest to avail of cheap credit on an ongoing basis. Otherwise borrowing on credit cards is not a good idea due to the rates normally charged.
