Credit card for those with bad credit?

Because of those fools in PTSB, we've been left with bad credit. Their constant raising of the variable rate when they didn't give us back our tracker caused us to slip into arrears.

When they discovered their *mistake* & rectified it, we were a little under €10k in arrears (they originally had us at nearly €40k). Now, today, that stands at just over €6,300. So it's coming down. Not as fast as it went up, but it's getting there. Unfortunately, this reports on out ICB report as a black mark (24 of them actually), with us at just over six months payments in arrears, & you can see that it's coming down.

We're going on our first family holiday in five years in a couple of months - strangely, the family holidays (or any holidays) stopped when the interest rates started going up. I'll need to hire a car & to do so need a credit card, unfortunately with bad credit, I can't get one through our normal bank.

I don't mind an annual charge or even a high-interest rate as it will be paid off in full & I'm not likely to keep it for that long, but I need one with about a €2,000 line of credit on it for the car.

Is there a company in Ireland who specialise in a credit card for people with bad credit?

I've been told that you can hire a car with almost every company except Hertz using a debit card. That's within Europe, and I know people who just don't bother with a credit card any more.
I hired a car in France earlier this year and they only blocked 400 on my card so I didn't need a massive limit.

On another note, if you had always kept your tracker, would you have gone into arrears based on the repayments you actually made? If not, then you should get PTSB to update your ICB.

Likewise, I hired a car in Italy this year via Indigo Car Hire - UK site. V reasonable and no issue with debit card. They told me €700 would be blocked on debit card but only blocked €300 at the desk. No issue.

Also + 1 to getting PTSB to fix ICB. Should have been part of the tracker redress guidelines IMHO
