credit card default $ merger

Bank of America recenly merged with MBNA. I have savings account and checking account with Bank of America. I had credit credit card with 2,500 credit limit with MBNA that's been chargedoff. I'ts about 3 years ago when I stopped payment. I just wanna know if my account at bank of america is safe. any help would be apppreciated. I'm thinking of switching to wells fargo. thanks again.
