If a online shop does a pre-auth on your card and reserves money and does not post the transaction, when does the pre auth expire?

The auth code should last a week.if u not happy you can contact ur merchant bank and ask them to decline the transaction. the seller won't process your order as they didn't get the funds.normally once they got an auth code from ur merchant bank they will process it within 1-2 days most.unless they got the incorrect info of ur card.e.g. wrong csc no. etc

I ordered some DVDs from blahdvd in jersey last monday. They immediately pre-authed for the full amount. 2 days later they emailed looking for confirmation of address etc aka security check. Emailed them back the info and no reply or shipment since. Pre-auth is still there. They don't answer the phone always a recorded message but they don't return calls.

I am wondering if this will be cleared so I can go elsewhere as they seemingly have dire CS.
 
OF COURSE YOU CAN CANCEL THE ORDER as long as the goods haven't been dispatched.try their customer service if they have one. but once the goods has been shipped u have to send the goods back then get a refund.
read their return policy, some may charge you for the shipping cost.so compare to see if its worth while to return it.
 
FOR BETTER ask your bank if money were taken if not tell them to decline the transaction/autho code.so you won't have the hassle chasing the company for a refund as the chance is they will take the funds from your account at some stage and tkaes forever to get a refund back.
