Creating link using shortened name

When I try to add a link I click on the Insert link icon and copy the url I am not asked to enter a description.

How do I do this?
Are my settings correct?

I type the word and highlight it. I then click on the icon which looks like a globe with a paperclip in front of it. Finally I paste the link which I have already copied into the dialog box. I find firefoxes tabbed browsing excellent for this. Incidently boards.ie ask for the word in a dialog box.
