cracked LCD screen on laptop

Can anyone tell me is to expensive to fix, thanks. About one third of the scren is how just white.
 
Buying a replacement screen (or broken laptop of the same make/model for parts - possibly from eBay) and fitting it yourself might be an option. But I would imagine that to pay somebody for parts and labour here in Ireland would cost a few bob alright.
 
Yes, I would agree with clubman, unless it's a valuable or new machine (under warranty?). Either a self repair (via ebay) or just buy a new one (I would guess a repair would cost half as much). Either way, take a back up of all your data first.
 
accidental damage could be covered under your house insurance.....if it was accidently damaged at home......
 
you might be able to get your hands on an old PC screen and hook the laptop up to it and just use it as a stationary machine rather than a laptop.
