cracked floor tile

18 months ago we had our kitchen floor tiled. This morning I went into the kitchen to find a tile cracked. Anyone know what could have caused this? The tile is not near any counter/table etc, so nothing could have fallen on it. I'm a little disappointed!! txs

It may have cracked because it was not laid properly( Ie there wasn't an even bed of cement under it) or due to thermal expansion. If you have any spare tiles, you can chisel the cracked one up and fit a replacement.
