Courtesy car during warranty service

Hi, does anyone know what the normal policy is for car dealers to supply a courtesy car for a warranty issue?
Do they charge you for car rental?, or are they supposed to supply you with one if you ask for it?

I've been provided with courtesy cars in the past from main dealers - not even when it's a warranty issue, just if there is a delay for parts or something. No rental charges. I'd be very surprised if you didn't get a rental-free car in a warranty situation.

It depends on the dealer. Some provide a courtesy car gratis, and others don't.

In my experience some dealers offer a courtesy car for free - if you have bought your car from them, you have to pay for the petrol used (usually a full tank and then you have to fill when you are dropping it back).

some offer a car at a cost per day if you have not purchased your car from them.
