Hi all,
a few years ago a family member was involved in a case which came before the District Court and in which he received a suspended sentence.

I do not speak to this person and for personal reasons would like to see the details of the case and basis of judgement.

Can anyone advise me if these are held as a matter of public record and that a person can apply for a copy of the case transcript(s)? I am not sure if this is possible but would appreciate all advice, thanks.

A District Court sitting in an average town would deal with more than a 100 summonses of various type in one sitting. AFAIK the DC office does not keep separate files on each case. Judge records his/her decision on a list of cases which used to be or may still be called the Justice's Minute book ( Justice now = judge )

You may be supplied with a copy on if it is not a family law matter or otherwise restricted, but DC clerks may not have time to dig it out for you.
