Hi,
Myself and my girlfriend were going to head to Lanzarote for 8 or 10 days in September but before we book we were thinking that the South of France or Italy might be worth a look.
We'd be very interested in the Cote D'Azur area where we could stay a few nights in different places along the coast and 3 or 4 nights in Nice. Is this area very expensive for drinks and restaurants? Can anyone recommend a good cheap hotel in Nice, Antibes and somewhere else in that area.
Are there any travel agents that specialize in this area who can tailor a holiday to suit our needs.
We would also consider Venice & Lake Garda or Rome & Sorrento.
Any advice or ideas would be great, thanks.

We stayed here. [broken link removed] Right in the middle of the Antibes. Bus from airport to 200 yds of apartment. Fly to Nice.

We stayed here in Bellagio on lake Como [broken link removed] Fly to Bergamo with Ryanair, get train to Varenna from Bergamo train station and then boat to Bellagio.

No need for expensive hotels.

Antibes Nice etc

Was there last year. Great spot - definitely do it! Food not as expensive as here - say 20 euro for a nice meal and wine much cheaper . We stayed in a little place in Juan les pins called Hotel Courbet which was cheap - v basic but a smashing location right near the beach. Not sure of your age but just so that you know Juan les pins is like california during spring break- teenagers everywhere! In Nice, we rented an apartment through the website posted by the OP - expensive but v nice. In Cannes, we stayed in Suite Hotel Cannes - very funny set up. Big rooms that look like a space ship or something - very clean and comfortable - about 10 mins to beach and other attractions. Reception staff are unbelievably rude so just ignore them altogether - I made several complaints to no avail! Monaco is well worth a visit - only a few euro by train. We didn't stay there so no recommendations for there unfortunately.

We stayed here in Nice
Cheap and cheerful but right in the centre of things.
Nice is a fab place plus you have the beach right near you. Also you can visit many places along the coast.
We found Nice to be surprisingly cheap - you could get a 3 course meal for €20 per head, in the very charming old town area. Loved Nice. Further along the coast would be dearer but you could base yourself in Nice.
